Rolfe Judd was commissioned to refurbish existing buildings and design new blocks that will expand and enhance the school's facilities. Classrooms will be re-organised to improve daylight access and create a more comfortable environment. The refurbishment of the 1930s building has been designed to achieve BREEAM 'Very Good' rating. Key sustainability features include the new electrical systems, such as highly efficient lighting, zoned two pipe heating, natural ventilation and insulation. The new sports hall extension is set to be carbon neutral and employs energy-saving features such as PV panels, air source heat pumps and rainwater recycling.
