Rolfe Judd were commissioned to design a new highly sustainable sixth from centre for Merton College, catering for a full range of study areas. The innovative design with curving barrel roof featured a low energy design with an active natural ventilation system. The building achieved BREEAM Very Good and saves around 45% of energy compared to a standard building. The internal environment is flexible and progressive and designed to give the student personal study spaces with pc and wi-fi facilities as well are more formal classroom layouts. Classroom environments are cool and calm with high quality materials creating an environment the students are proud of.
