The European Union has passed legislation that sets targets to reduce greenhouse gasses across the eurozone. These targets along with future ones will become increasingly onerous to meet and new technologies and building types will be required to respond to the challenge. Many European Governments including the UK Government have already responded by passing their own laws to restrict CO2 emissions and encourage use of renewable energy systems; environmental awareness is also increasing rapidly among corporations and individuals alike. The environmental challenges for the construction industry are therefore set to continue to increase and innovative solutions need to be found.
Rolfe Judd Architecture has taken up this challenge and by working closely with developers and has already designed and delivered a number of low environmental impact projects.
