Rolfe Judd Planning, alongside Client Shaftesbury Plc, have been awarded the Planning for Business Award at the RTPI Awards for 2011.

Shaftesbury villages is a series of focussed and specific areas with their own bespoke mix of uses and a unique community spirit. The areas involved are Carnaby Street, Chinatown, Berwick Street, Seven Dials/Covent Garden and the areas close to the Royal Opera House (called the Opera Quarter). These areas are considered ‘villages’ because whilst they are located in the centre of London they have a strong local resident and business communities.

Through its successful management of these properties, working closely with the communities in these areas and developing an innovative and flexible planning strategy Shaftesbury has, and continues to revitalise the heart of London, creating new jobs, new places to shop and eat and new homes.

Rolfe Judd Planning has been closely involved in the success of the Villages. Hundreds of flexible planning permissions have been secured across the villages, and the management of these permissions and the opportunities for identifying greater flexibility at a local level is a key role the company plays. The success of this approach can be demonstrated through the vibrancy of the villages and the demand for homes and businesses.

Rolfe Judd Planning believes in engaging with the community, other stakeholders and the local planning authorities in order to help deliver major benefits at local level. Rolfe Judd has engaged both Camden and Westminster City Councils in the delivery of Local Development Framework Documents and Supplementary Planning Documents.

The Awards Ceremony is due to take place on the 23rd february 2012.
