We are proud to celebrate an incredible milestone—Charles Graham’s 35th year with Rolfe Judd Architecture.
Since joining as Architectural Assistant in 1989, Charles has become an integral part of our team, bringing a wealth of expertise, passion, and commitment that continue to leave a lasting impact on our projects and our people.
Over the years, Charles has played a pivotal role in shaping some of our most iconic projects, seamlessly blending visionary design with practical solutions to create exceptional architecture. His deep understanding of design and meticulous attention to detail have made him a respected leader and mentor, inspiring those around him to reach new heights.
From high-density schemes like Harbour Central and Wandsworth Village to transformative regeneration projects across London, including Woodberry Down and Saffron Square, Charles has been instrumental in reshaping the city’s urban landscape. His work has redefined areas such as Nine Elms, contributing to their evolution into vibrant, thriving communities. Notably, his involvement in projects like the Sainsbury’s concept at Nine Elms—an urban agora with over 600 apartments above a new garden in the sky and the Northern Line extension beneath—highlights his innovative approach to mixed-use developments.
Charles was also involved in the early high-density residential project at Tabard Square in Southwark, which introduced a new public square and dynamic urban spaces. This project, recognized by CABE and prestigious government awards, set a benchmark for city-centre living.
His contributions extend beyond residential developments. In the City of London, Charles helped define anew public routes to the Thames through the creation of major commercial office buildings, including Lovell’s headquarters on Holborn Viaduct. His expertise in integrating architecture with public realm improvements has had a lasting influence on the area.
Charles’s passion for addressing complex challenges is evident in his work on Network Rail sites. Projects at Epsom, Twickenham, Walthamstow, and Guildford involved creating new stations and delivering significant public benefits, all while navigating the intricacies of active railway systems. These efforts have resulted in highly connected, liveable spaces that enhance communities.
