New Twickenham Station Opens
Twickenham Station is now open to the public. The redevelopment represents a much-needed benefit for the area, providing a new station and public area as well as delivering new homes.
The station environment and facilities will be vastly improved with a significantly larger ticket office and new lifts and stairs. The scheme will deliver new homes as well as providing new retail space occupied by M&S and Sainsbury’s.
Network rail were the joint venture with our client Solum on the sites at Twickenham. This allowed Rolfe Judd to reconsider the existing station at Twickenham, relocating it above the tracks and creating a new substantial public space to improve access to the town centre and the international rugby stadium.
The scheme will also deliver improved connections and links to other transport modes, as well as a new riverside walk along the River Crane, from the station to Moormead Gardens.
The project was taken from inception and feasibility, through planning and production information. The new Twickenham Station is now complete and open for public use, with the final phase to complete this year.
Twickenham is one of a series of station-led, mixed-use projects designed by Rolfe Judd, to create value and enable station and environmental improvements, for the travelling public. Current schemes include Walthamstow, Guildford, Epsom and Twickenham.
