Oval Expansion Plans Are On The Up

APRIL 2018

Our architecture and planning teams have submitted a detailed planning application on behalf of Surrey County Cricket Club for the redevelopment of the Lock Laker Stand and an adjoining integral building, One Oval Square.

The development forms part of the club’s ambitious plans to expand this world famous and highly cherished sporting facility. When complete this will form part of the wider expansion plans to make The Kia Oval the largest dedicated cricket ground outside of India and Australia. In addition to the extra seats, the proposals will provide an all year round facility with hospitality areas, conference suites with pitch side views, bars and private terraces.

“It is fantastic to be working with SCCC again to help them realise their ambitions to expand this historic cricket ground, following our successful completion of the new Peter May Stand in 2016. Our office is minutes away from the The Oval and as regular visitors we understand both the architectural requirements and what fans need to make their visits a great experience.“

Extensive consultation was undertaken with the council and local residents throughout the design phase, which has proved to be extremely valuable. The design makes effective use of the available space, includes improvements to the public realm and provides increased activity at street level. Both fans and the local community alike are set to benefit from these design proposals.
