Planning Secured for Kennington Park

We are delighted to announce that on Tuesday the 25th May, our proposal’s for Workspace’s headquarters site Kennington Business Park had unanimously been granted planning approval by Lambeth Council.

Workspace Group are a leading commercial property company in London, who own more than four million sqft of floor space, providing homes for more than 4,000 businesses in the capital. Their network of over 60 business locations across London enables them to offer a range of spaces to suit all businesses: from inspiring office and studio space to well-connected light industrial units and spacious workshops, all on flexible lease terms.

Situated just minutes from Oval tube station, Kennington Park is a collection of eleven buildings, offering office, studio and workshop space with flexible leases and a vibrant professional community. The centre also houses their flagship co-working space offering both dedicated desk space and hot-desking facilities.

Rolfe Judd has been engaged to design the phased re-development of six existing buildings within Kennington Park Business Centre that front Cranmer Road and Foxley Road.

Three contemporary new buildings delivering just under 270,000 sqft of new work space studios and light industrial space are proposed within a new landscaped masterplan which will ‘stitch together’ the whole business park into a cohesive development, as well as creating improved accessibility and new connections.

The focus has been placed on creating a new and attractive place to both work and visit. The historic site’s industrial heritage will be drawn through the design of the new buildings, the scale and proportion of the proposal have taken into account contextual and historical influences to make sure the new development comfortably sits in the existing context.

The new workspace will comprise of light industrial, office and studio space with a key design principle being flexibility to respond to economic and market changes. The design promotes natural ventilation and daylight with the aim to achieve an efficient design targeting BREEAM excellent.

The development will be focused on employment, improving the existing workspace and increasing the coherence of Kennington Park Business Centre as a whole.
