Thames Court Site Approved for New Office Development

JUNE 2017

A new contemporary building in the heart of Windsor, for Legal & General Property, will bring nearly 4,000 sqm of flexible and sustainable Grade A office space to the town centre. This is the first significant office development in the centre of Windsor for many years.

The site is a few hundred metres from Windsor Castle and adjacent to the Victoria Barracks, which is home to 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards, the oldest regular regiment in the British Army. The vacant building, on the edge of the Windsor Town Centre Conservation Area, will be replaced with a development which sits coherently within the streetscape of the wider area.

“We have carefully studied the site and the unique setting of this important new building to produce a design which respects and enhances its location.”
Steve Harvey, Director, Rolfe Judd

Set-back upper floors emphasize the historical rhythm, in keeping with the surroundings

As part of the design process, we have analysed the elevational rhythm of the surrounding streets to ensure our proposals sit harmoniously on the site. The building’s key heights, bay widths and materials reflect the character of this historic area, with sympathetic building lines, set-back upper floors and fenestration patterns.

A corner entrance is clearly defined and leads from a new, open public area. Roof terraces will provide an amenity for the office workers with excellent views of Windsor Castle and Windsor Great Park.
