A former business village containing an incandescent gas mantle factory is transformed into a unique and sustainable new quarter of Wandsworth by Workspace Group and Mount Anvil.
The visionary masterplan integrates new homes alongside flexible office space with new pedestrian routes and public realm. The Light Bulb is the workspace element of the development, The Filaments and Bronze provide housing.
Currently under construction, Bronze is 20 storeys and will provide a landmark building to complete the development. The entrance faces on to a newly formed public square and the building will form the last part of the new pedestrian route from the high street to King George’s Park, orientation is to maximise the views of the park.
A simple design composition of three, wrapped, elongated rectangles, extruded to form ‘blocks’ are arranged in complimentary sizes. The trio of rectangles visually ‘float’ at second floor level above a simple glazed box containing the entrances and cafe.
