Christchurch Court

Christchurch Court was designed as part of the Paternoster Square masterplan, which replaced the unloved and sterile 1960’s redevelopment immediately to the north of St Paul’s Cathedral. The objective was to establish a blueprint for vibrant and stimulating development which would still be subservient to the power and presence of the cathedral.

As the largest building within the masterplan area, this building emerged as a critically important element and its location and design restored medieval vistas and perspectives, which had been lost for many years. In this spirit the curved front elevation reflects the impressive Portland stone towers that stand sentinel at the western end of the cathedral.

The design for the building features huge clear span floorplates, which provided the basis for the creation of two specialist dealing floors of 30,000 square feet each. The reception and cores were also designed and constructed to accommodate very high occupancy levels. The building was pre-let to Goldman Sachs during the construction process.
