Awards: Artisan Wins Best Conversion and Grand Prix Winner

London Evening Standard New Homes Awards has awarded Artisan the top prize of Grand Prix Winner. Described as a “thoughtful design for flexible spaces and city living”, the panel of industry experts and London Evening Standard readers decided the project highlighted the best of contemporary architecture and design.

The prominent site in Fitzrovia was developed for clients Dukelease Properties, a scheme of 13 genuinely bespoke homes have been created from a series of five terraced buildings of differing ages and styles. The challenge was to retain the character of the original and to marry this with a new contemporary insertion.

Internally, a flexible layout, rather than open plan, uses sliding walls and screens to give owners the ability to adapt the space according to their needs. The elegant and original interiors contain different features in each from a curving oak-and-glass staircase to Japanese-inspired porcelain rain mosaic tiles in the shower areas. The show apartments contain items inspired by the local artisan neighbourhood and its artistry of handmade wares.
