36 Carnaby Street’s refurbishment is now complete, enhancing the quality of its office accommodation, now offering an appealing environment to future office tenants.
This light-touch re-fitting ensures that the commercial offer is of the highest quality while retaining a significant quantity of the base building materials.
The internal office layouts and plant systems have been upgraded while the existing terrace areas benefit from new finishes and an overall increase in external planting to encourage biodiversity.
We have also re-configured the roof terrace to increase the outdoor space available to tenants. This enhancement is in response to the growing importance of usable high-quality external space in contributing to the well-being of office users, as recognised in the post-pandemic world.
Creating a strong sense of identity was a key element of the brief. The refurbishment includes the provision of new metal entrance gates and an illuminated canopy to the main office entrance on Carnaby Street. These elements have been designed with a unique bespoke high-quality BMA finished bronze including a striking ‘36’ mesh pattern which is present throughout the building. The existing external lighting has been upgraded for energy efficiency and to reduce light pollution.
The refurbishment has been carried out with a focus on sustainability, with the use of existing fabric/structure to reduce the number of new materials used within the construction process. A new living wall is provided at roof level as a backdrop to the new terrace bar area and to promote further biodiversity in the area.
We are delighted to see this project complete and excited to see how the upgraded office accommodation and external spaces will be received by tenants and users.
