Berners & Wells Team visit

Rolfe Judd Planning team recently had the opportunity to visit Berners & Wells, one of our latest projects to reached completion. It was a fantastic day to bond and learn about this great scheme.

Berners & Wells is an exciting and attractive redevelopment of two adjoining buildings in the City of Westminster which created a flexible and more usable mixed-use building. The development retained the locally listed façade along Wells Street and completely redeveloped Berners Street property and also greatly enhanced the public realm and appearance of the central space between the properties known as Wells Mews.

The development, designed Emrys Architects by for clients Maizeland Ltd and Arringford Ltd. adds glamour and excitement along Berners Street with a design that pays tribute to the original buildings which historically stood on the site. The base of the Berners Street façade comprises a two-storey arch in Portland Stone, followed by a colonnade of white faience columns and glazed brick and topped with a stone spandrel.

Wells Mews changed its character from a ‘back-of-house’ appearance to the bright circular drum designed by Artist Tess Jaray. The new modern and quirky mosaic façade has transformed the rear of the property enabling it to become a more established and well used thoroughfare with the potential for use as public space in the future.

This new retrofit brings diversity and vibrancy to the area. shoutout to everyone involved in making Berners & Wells a reality, from our internal team to the client and architect.
