We are delighted to announce that LB Bromley Development Control Committee resolved to grant planning permission for the redevelopment of the Blenheim Shopping Centre, High Street, Penge.
This redevelopment of the outdated shopping centre, by Hadley and Clarion Housing Group joint venture will deliver substantial benefits to Penge’s district centre and the surrounding local community.

The scheme which was designed by Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios will deliver a mixed-use development of four buildings (3-16 storeys) with 230 residential dwellings, 3,257 sqm GEA of Flexible Class E floorspace and extensive public realm improvements including the upgrade of Empire Square and Arpley Square. A new residential street linking Burham Close with the High Street is provided alongside an extension of Empire Square to provide a new fully pedestrianised, high quality public realm link between the High Street and a residential estate to the west, and an enhanced pedestrian link (including a pocket park) between Evelina Road and Burham Close.

This scheme will provide a new, sustainable, community-focused hub on Penge High Street with high-quality homes (including 35% affordable), new commercial and community uses, the re-provision of the much-loved local supermarket, substantial public realm, play space and a sustainable transport hub.

The development will deliver 30% of Bromley’s annual housing target while reinforcing the High Street, boosting the local economy and creating cleaner, greener spaces.
