Slough Borough Council’s Planning Committee have unanimously voted to grant (subject to S106) our proposals for 46-56 High Street, Slough.
This will be a mixed use development providing 104 residential units, a new nursery (Class E) and associated communal terraces, cycle parking, accessible car parking and waste storage at 46-56 High Street, Slough.
This part 8, part 6 storey scheme, designed by KKM Architects for clients Connaught House Limited and Oxford House, provides an exciting opportunity to create a vibrant new mixed-use development fronting the High Street, delivering much-needed homes, including 12.5% affordable tenure and a new ground floor early-years nursery use.
This development will make effective and efficient use of a brownfield site, which sits within a very accessible location of Slough Town Centre. The Town Centre has been identified as the most sustainable location in the Borough for new mixed-use developments and this one will make a vital contribution toward Slough’s housing supply shortfall which is very significant at present. It will also promote sustainable travel by providing 117 cycle parking spaces for the site.
The materials seek to develop upon the aesthetic of new local development whilst acknowledging the more traditional high street style.
The scheme has been carefully designed to not prejudice the future development of neighbouring sites and it will include some improvements of the public realm along Burlington Road, where a new pavement and lay-by will significantly open out the street and improve pedestrian safety.
