We are delighted to announce that Osiers Road has been Highly Commended in the category of Planning for Affordable Housing at the Planning Awards.
The scheme at Osiers Road is a collaboration between Rolfe Judd Architecture and Rolfe Judd Planning and the recognition serves as a testament to the dedication, hard work, and commitment of both practices. From initial conception to successful execution, every step was guided by our collective mission to see delivery of high quality homes for all as part of genuine mixed use schemes.
Housing is a fundamental right and an essential element for fostering vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable communities and Osiers Road’s success lies in its innovative approach, combining thoughtful sustainable design and the useable external spaces which are vital for wellbeing. The development not only meets the highest standards of design quality and sustainability for its residents but also enhances the quality of life for commercial occupiers on the lower floors and other residents in the area who benefit from the new public realm.
Osiers Road has replaced the underused and dilapidated workshop buildings with a high quality residential-led mixed-use scheme with a new workspace hub for the area, which was crucially needed. This is a model for co-location living, delivering one stand-alone and two connected buildings, ranging in height from 10 to 14 storeys each of them with office space at ground and first floor, and residential units above, delivering up to 40,000 of flexible commercial floorspace.
These 168 homes are 100% affordable (93 intermediate London Shared Ownership units and 75 London Affordable Rent units) with associated amenity space, including roof terrace and balconies, together with 10 disabled persons car parking spaces at basement level, and 384 cycle parking spaces, and providing landscaping and areas of public realm, and other associated works including highway improvements and provision of a new sub-station.
The Planning Awards showcase the outstanding work across the planning and placemaking sectors and recognise excellence in planning and associated placemaking disciplines, including heritage conservation, urban design, economic development, partnership working, environmetal consultancy, housing, and law.
