Planning Approved for Valmar Trading Estate

Rolfe Judd Planning were pleased to recently receive unanimous approval from Southwark’s Planning Committee for proposals to redevelop the Valmar Trading Estate in Camberwell, delivering an Outpatient and Diagnostics Centre for Kings College Hospital (KCH) NHS Foundation Trust and 43 new homes, including 35% affordable housing. The proposal will provide a new public route linking Valmar Road with Denmark Hill and introduce high quality architecture, landscaping, and public realm.

The proposed Outpatient and Diagnostics Centre will enable Kings College Hospital to re-locate and expand their non-acute services to a quieter and less congested environment away from their main hospital site. The facility will help to improve population health outcomes by diagnosing health conditions earlier, faster, and more accurately, whilst delivering a better diagnostic service by providing a single point of access to a range of services in the community.

The relocation and expansion of services at the Valmar Estate will also benefit the main Denmark Hill hospital site by releasing greater capacity for acute bed provision, expansion operating theatres and developing innovative service clusters. The proposed development will contribute to the vitality and viability of Camberwell District Centre by increasing footfall from patients and new residents and growing the well-established health-based economy in the area with the creation of new jobs.

We were delighted to achieve this result for King College Hospital and their delivery partner NewMark, securing permission for valuable health infrastructure and new homes to improve the lives of Londoners.
