Rolfe Judd Planning is delighted to have secured a resolution to grant from Southwark’s Planning Committee last week.
The scheme for Spot Property will see the refurbishment, extension and part redevelopment of the Butterfly Walk Shopping Centre in Camberwell to deliver improved retail and town centre uses to ensure the vitality and character of Camberwell as a local centre is retained.
At the heart of the development, which is designed by award winning architects John McAslan and Partners, is a new attractive public square which will become the focus for events and a new meeting space for local people.
In addition to the improved retail spaces the scheme will deliver a new 102 bed hotel, new 2 screen cinema and community accommodation. The proposed scheme will deliver 145 new homes including 35% of homes as affordable within three buildings and includes a range of attractive public and private amenity spaces for residents.
Work is likely to start on the project in the next year and it is programmed to be completed by 2025.
