Unanimous Approval for Heritage Scheme in Cheyne Walk

NOVEMBER 2017

We have secured planning permission for the redevelopment at 1-4 Munro Terrace and 111-112 Cheyne Walk in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC). The Committee Chair praised the high-quality, sensitive scheme that was brought forward, and it received unanimous approval from members.

“After considerable dialogue with the Council’s conservation officer, we secured the sensitive part-demolition of the building to rightly preserve the existing features of historic value, whilst also facilitating the provision of high quality, functional commercial and residential accommodation for the client.”
Rupert Litherland, Senior Planner, Rolfe Judd

Traditional materials and architectural detailing complement the existing historic features

In a prominent corner position on the Thames embankment, the building is located within the Cheyne Walk Conservation Area and adjacent to a Grade II listed building. The proposed scheme, by architects Scott Brownrigg, seeks to rationalise the existing uses within the building whilst providing a sensitive restoration of the front façade and contemporary rear extension.
