CheapsideWe were appointed to provide a major refurbishment and complete re-cladding of this prominently located building at 5 Cheapside in the heart of the City of London. The original 1960s building was previously used as offices. Despite being located in a very prominent position adjacent to St Paul’s Cathedral, at the intersection of Cheapside, New Change and St Martins Le-Grand, it had been vacant for over a decade. The building contributed little to the setting around the cathedral and was constrained by local height restrictions. The remodelling of 5 Cheapside has created a high quality, sustainable development, maximising the opportunities presented by the site, whilst ensuring it projects a contemporary image to the urban environment. The major internal refurbishment and recladding of the external envelope creates an up to date building with all the qualities of a new development, whilst making use of the existing structure, creating additional floor area and improving the building’s overall appearanceClient: AmspropLPA: City of LondonArchitect: Rolfe Judd ArchitectureSectors: Offices
