Regent StreetWe negotiated a particularly sensitive planning permission to refurbish and extend the Grade II listed former Dickins and Jones department store on Regent Street.Careful negotiations were required with Westminster City Council over the conversion of the former department store into smaller retail units, office space and a new restaurant. A sensitive balance also needed to be struck between the need to modernise the building, whilst retaining and celebrating its rich heritage, value and interest. The project ultimately transformed this iconic building into a vibrant, new mixed-use development. As a shopping experience, the building now features a number of flagship stores, including Armani Exchange, H&M and Banana Republic, over the lower four floors fronting onto Regent Street, whilst a panoramic roof-top “destination restaurant”, contemporary office accommodation and an atrium space face onto Argyll Street.Client: Shearer Property Group / DelanceyLPA: City of WestminsterArchitect: Rolfe Judd ArchitectureSectors: Entertainment and Leisure Heritage
