We are proud to announce that our client, London Square, has been shortlisted in the Placemaking category at the Property Week RESI Awards 2026 for County Hall Kingston
Rolfe Judd Architecture has collaborated closely with London Square on the transformation of County Hall Kingston, formerly Surrey County Hall, a Grade II* listed civic landmark of considerable architectural and historic significance. Once the administrative heart of the county, the building had become redundant in its original use. The challenge was not simply to restore it, but to reintegrate it meaningfully into the life of Kingston.
The project revitalises this prominent riverside complex into a vibrant mixed-use neighbourhood, carefully balancing the sensitive restoration of historic fabric with the delivery of high-quality new homes. New interventions are designed to complement and enhance the original architecture, while improvements to landscape permeability and public realm reconnect the site to its surroundings and open it up to the community.
For Rolfe Judd, placemaking is at the core of our architectural approach. We believe successful regeneration goes beyond the creation of buildings; it is about shaping environments that foster identity, activity and long-term value. At County Hall Kingston, heritage has been used as a catalyst, not a constraint, enabling a development that respects its past while confidently embracing contemporary living.
is particularly encouraging to see a heritage-led mixed-use regeneration scheme recognised for its contribution to placemaking at a national level. We congratulate London Square and all fellow finalists and look forward to celebrating the awards.
