We are delighted to announce that Willow Walk, our project for Hollybrook Homes and Peabody, has been shortlisted for the New London Awards 2023 in the Housing category.
This scheme blends modern aesthetics, sustainable features, and a vibrant community atmosphere with its 168 fully affordable homes sitting above of 40,000 of flexible commercial floorspace in the Wandsworth Riverside Delta. Delivering 40% of the site as public realm and 3 buildings with beautiful and pioneering facades, this scheme is an example for both co-location and high-quality affordable living.
Willow Walk isn’t just another housing development; it’s a testament to innovation, sustainability, and community-centric design, providing affordable spaces where families can thrive, and communities can flourish. With thoughtful design and meticulous attention to detail, we have striven to redefine the concept of affordable housing, providing comfortable and modern homes that enhance the quality of life for residents.
Housing is a fundamental right and an essential element for fostering vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable communities and Willow Walk’s success lies in its innovative approach, combining thoughtful sustainable design and the useable external spaces which are vital for wellbeing. The development not only meets the highest standards of design quality and sustainability for its residents but also enhances the quality of life for commercial occupiers on the lower floors and other residents in the area who benefit from the new public realm.
The area that the Riverside Quarter now occupies has a historic link with the abundance of the osier reeds that once prevailed on site. The notion of the osier and their extensive use in the weaving of baskets presented an opportunity to be used as a metaphor for the architectural language of the development, to create dramatic visual interest and connect historically to this district of Wandsworth.
