We are delighted to announce that several of our projects have been shortlisted for this year’s Building London Planning Awards, recognising excellence in planning across the capital.
We are proud to see a diverse range of schemes acknowledged across multiple categories, a testament to our team’s continued dedication to delivering thoughtful, sustainable, and impactful planning outcomes in partnership with our clients and collaborators
Glengall Road, shortlisted in the Best Mixed Use category, successfully integrates residential, education, commercial, and community uses within a cohesive and high-quality design. Delivered in partnership with the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and Hollybrook, the project brings together 676 student roomswith a new Creative Commercial Centre, providing 2,375 sqm of flexible employment space. Located in Southwark, Glengall Road is a prime example of how mixed-use schemes can bring vibrancy and opportunity to urban neighbourhoods. The scheme prioritises connectivity, active frontages, and flexible uses that will serve the community both now and into the future.

AELTC Community Tennis Centre, developed for the All England Lawn Tennis Club, has been shortlisted for Placemaking, Heritage & Culture Award. This scheme not only enhances access to sport for local residents, but also forms part of AELTC’s broader legacy goals. At the heart of the scheme are 16 Championship-standard grass courts and three acrylic courts housed within a state-of-the-art air dome, ensuring year-round use for both professional athletes and the local community. The courts serve as vital practice facilities during The Championships while also supporting grassroots development through an expanded Community Tennis Programme and a widely accessible Pay & Play scheme. Facilities are fully accessible for wheelchair users, addressing a longstanding lack of provision for disabled athletes. It demonstrates how sport can be used to reinforce community cohesion and celebrate the historic significance of tennis in the area.

High Road Goodmayes, nominated in the Best New Place to Live category, is a major regeneration scheme delivering in Redbridge by Hadley Property Group and Clarion Housing. This landmark, mixed-use development delivers 568 high-quality new homes and vibrant community infrastructure in the heart of the Crossrail Corridor. The project exemplifies a people-first, design-led approach to placemaking, transforming a disused brownfield site into a sustainable, inclusive neighbourhood that fosters connectivity, wellbeing, and opportunity, with a strong focus on design quality and integration with the existing community.

We’re also thrilled to see four other projects that Rolfe Judd Planning has been involved with are shortlisted across different categories, submitted by our clients or other stakeholders:
Oval Village – Living and Mixed Use Categories
Submitted by Berkeley Group, Oval Village is a landmark regeneration of the former Oval gasholders site. The project combines heritage-led design with contemporary architecture to deliver new homes, retail space, and vibrant public realm in the heart of Vauxhall. Its dual shortlistings in both the Living and Mixed Use categories reflect its success in creating a balanced, high-quality urban environment.
Woodberry Down – Best Borough-Led Project
Also submitted by Berkeley, Woodberry Down is a long-running partnership with Hackney Council and Notting Hill Genesis that has transformed a once-isolated estate into a thriving mixed tenure community. It is rightly recognised in the Best Borough-Led Project category, exemplifying how collaborative regeneration can deliver long-term social and environmental benefits.

Wallworth Town Hall – Heritage Category
Submitted by architects Feix & Merlin, this project has transformed these fire-damaged Grade II-listed landmarks into a vibrant community, cultural, and employment hub. The new scheme preserves key architectural features while introducing modern amenities to support local entrepreneurs, creative industries, and community groups.
St Martins Courtyard – Infrastructure Planning
Submitted by Brimelow McSweeney Architects, St Martin’s Courtyard and its environs is a dense, mixed-use development in Covent Garden with many residential dwellings, offices, shops, and restaurants which was constructed in 2008. This project, which includes a new restaurant terrace, façade and public realm improvements and artistic installations at the three courtyard entrances, sought to enliven and reimagine this space putting unique design at the heart of placemaking, reflecting the character of this part of Covent Garden and giving the space a new identity which is now known as ‘The Yards’.
The Building London Planning Awards, delivered by London First in partnership with the Mayor of London, celebrate projects that make outstanding contributions to the capital’s built environment. With such a broad and exciting range of categories, these awards highlight the diversity and innovation found in planning across the city. We look forward to the ceremony and extend our congratulations to all the teams and collaborators involved in these fantastic projects.
