We are thrilled to announce that the London Irish Centre has been honoured as the winner of the Planning Awards 2024 in the category of Best Use of Arts, Culture or Sports in Placemaking.
This project not only preserves the rich heritage of the Irish community in London but also creates a more dynamic space for cultural exchange, community engagement, and sports activities. Judges described the redevelopment as exemplifying “positive placemaking in all its dimensions”.

The London Irish Centre stands as a beacon of how thoughtful planning and design can foster cultural enrichment and community spirit. The LIC is operated by their committed staff members but are also reliant on the valuable support from dozens of volunteers who connect and support with the local community. It has effective relationships with numerous non-Irish organisations as well as providing care and support to many in need in Camden and the wider London area.
This recognition underscores the importance of integrating cultural and sports elements in urban development to create lively, inclusive, and sustainable communities.

The Planning Awards Ceremony took place on Thursday 13 June at IET London: Savoy Place, marking the eleventh consecutive year of celebration in recognising excellence in planning and placemaking. We had a lot of fun celebrating our victory amongst so many likeminded colleagues.
