Rolfe Judd Planning has been engaged by the AELTC for over a decade. Annually, Rolfe Judd has worked with the club to secure consent for all of the temporary facilities required to ensure the successful delivery of The Championships.
Over our time with the club, Rolfe Judd have helped to deliver a masterplan for Wimbledon to guide its long-term future development and operational strategies whilst continuing to reflect its much-loved traditions and keeping to the club’s spirit of ‘Tennis in an English Garden’. Guided by the masterplan, Rolfe Judd has secured planning consent for the new retractable roofs at Centre Court and No.1 Court, a new Museum Building, refurbishment and extension to the Millennium Building and construction of a new Media Centre. Just outside the main ground, Rolfe Judd has also secured consent at Somerset Road for a world class indoor tennis centre and extensive new landscaping.
This work has required co-ordination with key stakeholders, (including the London Borough of Merton, the GLA and Sport England) and the local community. Proposals have often had to contend with designated conservation areas, Metropolitan Open Land, construction traffic movements, operational security, energy infrastructure and the proximity of neighbouring residential properties.
