The redevelopment of the Blenheim Shopping Centre on Penge High Street will transform an outdated retail centre into a high quality, residential-led, mixed-use scheme. Delivered by Clarion Housing Group, the project will provide significant benefits to Penge’s district centre and the surrounding community.
Designed by Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, the scheme comprises four buildings ranging from 3 to 17 storeys. It will deliver 228 social rented homes, 1,026 sqm of flexible Class E floorspace, and extensive public realm improvements, including enhancements to Empire Square and Arpley Square.
A new residential street will link Burham Close with the High Street, alongside an extension of Empire Square to create a fully pedestrianised, high-quality route between the High Street and the residential area to the west. The proposals also include an enhanced pedestrian connection between Evelina Road and Burham Close, incorporating a pocket park.
The scheme will establish a sustainable, community-focused hub on Penge High Street, providing high-quality homes, commercial and community uses, public realm improvements, play space, and a sustainable transport hub.
The development will make a significant contribution to Bromley’s annual housing target, while reinforcing the High Street, supporting the local economy, and improving the quality of the local environment.
