Deanston Wharf Marks Next Step in Royal Docks Regeneration

London Borough of Newham’s Strategic Development Committee has unanimously resolved to grant planning permission for this high quality, residential-led, mixed-use development by Ballymore. The scheme is located in the Royal Docks regeneration area.

“Once again, Rolfe Judd Planning has provided exemplary service and advice, and thanks to their diligence, expertise and professionalism, RJP has helped obtain a unanimous approval on this highly complex site”
Simon Ryan, Senior Development Manager, Ballymore

Deanston Wharf will deliver 769 new homes, 1,125 sqm of commercial floorspace and a 170 metre long expansion to the adjoining Lyle Park. The scheme, which has been designed by Glenn Howells Architects, will complement the new neighbourhood being developed by Oxley and Ballymore at Royal Wharf directly to the east.

“With the comprehensive mixed use development at Royal Wharf now at an advanced stage of construction Deanston Wharf represents the next big step in the transformation of this area of the Royal Docks. Its much needed housing, commercial space and substantial public realm improvements will greatly benefit both the new residents and existing local community and will help to realise one of most exciting places to live and work in the city.”
Philip Dunphy, Associate Director, Rolfe Judd

The scheme will introduce a new publicly accessible walkway connecting North Woolwich Road and West Silvertown DLR station to the north with the River Thames to the south. An attractive new riverside walkway will also be introduced next to a planned Thames Clipper Pier. The walkway will complete an unprecedented pedestrian amenity linking Lyle Park, Deanston Wharf, Royal Wharf and Thames Barrier Park.
